first_img Right after he lands, you can see Maurer grab his neck and head area, clearly in pain from the fall. The UT QB will reportedly miss the rest of the game.Tennessee QB Brian Maurer will not return the rest of the game, per the Vol Network.— Brad Logan (@BradLoganCOTE) October 12, 2019Horrible news for Tennessee and its fans. Let’s hope Maurer’s injury isn’t too serious. The Volunteers are currently beating the Bulldogs 13-3 late in the third quarter. This would be UT’s second win overall and first SEC win of the season. This would be huge for a program trying to revive itself. The Volunteers had a brutal start to the season which included losses to Georgia State and BYU. The Volunteers’ lone win of the season so far came against Chattanooga in week 3.Fans are very excited for Maurer and how he’ll continue to develop. In his first start last week vs. No. 3 Georgia, he threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns.Hopefully, Maurer’s injury isn’t too serious and he can return to game-action next week. Maurer took a hit during a run that caused him to land on his neck. After first landing on his neck, his body proceeded to bend backwards in a ‘scorpion-like’ way.Take a look at the rough landing below.Have a feeling this is why Brian Maurer was hurting. Immediately grabbed head/neck. #Vols— Trey Wallace (@TreyWallace_) October 12, 2019last_img read more
