High school golfer attacked by goose in hilarious set of photos

first_img FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailDevon Gilson-Pitts/Facebook(NEW YORK) — Birdies on the golf course are usually a good thing. Just not when that bird is a very angry goose. At a high school golf tournament last weekend in Adrian, Michigan, a Blissfield High School foursome had teed off and was walking down a fairway where a goose was sitting on an egg in a nest off to the side. There was a sign warning them of the goose and the golfers were respecting its space. But that’s when an additional goose suddenly came up behind the golfers. And it was not happy. The foursome was attacked by the goose, with one particular golfer, in his purple pullover, coming under direct assault.Devon Gilson-Pitts, whose husband is an assistant coach for the Blissford team, says she drove in a golf cart with her husband to get between the golfer and the goose. She said it took four carts to keep the goose away and help retrieve the golfer’s clubs, which fell out during the attack.“At no point in my life I ever thought golf would be fun or exciting till yesterday,” Gilson-Pitts wrote on Facebook. “We have a great group of kids on the golf team and had some excitement on the course yesterday.”Neither man nor goose was injured.Blissfield finished ninth of the 13 teams in the Saturday tournament.Isaac Couling, who was competing against Blissfield for Concord High School, was identified as the victim in the attack by The Detroit News. He says he parred the hole.At least it wasn’t an eagle.Copyright © 2018, ABC Radio. All rights reserved. The result was 28 points in the last five minutes of the third quarter and the Blue Jays went on to upset Udall 52-24 Friday.Heading into the game Udall was ranked No. 4 by Kpreps.com.Coach Sean Blosser said his team was a little nervous about playing the Eagles, but he credited them with finding a way to win at the line of scrimmage.“We were not getting a surge in the first half. In the second half we were. We won the line of scrimmage in the second half and that was the difference,” he said.Caldwell had great field position in the first half but could not take advantage as Udall played solid defense.Twice in the first half Caldwell started at the Udall 25 yard line but could not capitalize. Udall managed a 12-6 lead at the half, and that included a 19-play drive that took much of the second quarter.Udall also had a long run for a touchdown called back near the end of the half, and Caldwell stopped the drive with an interception on the next play.It looked like it was going to be the same thing in the third as Udall put together another long drive but it stalled deep in Caldwell territory with six minutes left. From there it was all Caldwell.Caldwell quarterback Colten Ward ran for 123 yards on 17 carries and scored four touchdowns. Sophomore running bck Dakota Volavka ran for 114 yards on 12 carries and scored three twice. In the first half Ward passed to Volavka for another score.Ward scored on runs of 24, 30, 7 and six yards. Volavka scored on runs of 15 and 10 yards. It was the running of sophomore Volavka who was making his first start, that helped open the way for Ward, who had been bottled up most of the first half.“We know teams are going to key on our quarterback. The sophomore (running back) stepped up tonight and did a great job. The line was getting a great push and opened holes,” coach Blosser said. With Volavka making nice runs to the outside, that opened room up the middle for Ward who took advantage of the defense several times in the second half.Caldwell’s defense also rose to the occasion by getting stops when it needed them, and by getting three interceptions.Ross Kuehney got an interception when Udall quarterback Ryon Fitlinberger fumbled while under pressure from the defense Kuehney appeared to strip the ball out of the quarterback’s hands, and he rambled about 40 yards for the score. Kuehney later recovered a fumble to stop another drive.Dilyn Volavka also had an interception for Caldwell and Justin Brown had a fumble recovery.Udall had three fumbles that it lost while Caldwell had one fumble.Ward completed six of 11 passes for 36 yards and one score to go with his running totals.Caldwell is now 1-1 and plays at West Elk (2-0) next week.Statistics can be found here: Box Scores for Udall @ CaldwellFollow us on Twitter.last_img read more
