The ship left New York on Sunday and was scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles on Feb. 22. Queen Mary 2 will lose the title of world’s largest passenger ship when rival Royal Caribbean International launches the Freedom of the Seas in May. Cunard is owned by Miami-based Carnival Corp., the world’s largest cruise operator. The company is based locally on Town Center Drive. PORT EVERGLADES, Fla. – One of the Queen Mary 2’s four propulsion motors hit the side of a shipping channel, but the world’s largest ocean liner should be able continue on its voyage to South America, Cunard Line said Wednesday. The $800 million ship was being examined in Port Everglades, but its departure was tentatively scheduled for Wednesday evening, the Valencia-based company said. The vessel returned to the Fort Lauderdale-area port shortly after leaving Tuesday when the crew reported hearing and feeling a shudder. The damaged motor, known as a pod, will be taken out of service until permanent repairs can be made. But the British-flagged ship’s three other pods will allow it to continue safely on a 38-day voyage, although at a slightly reduced speed, the company said. The slower speed shouldn’t affect the trip, but the one-day departure delay will change the schedule of the voyage’s first leg, the company said. Passengers were to get details of compensation before the ship leaves Florida. last_img read more

Alcacer I dont want to stay on the bench

first_imgSpanish striker Paco Alcacer insists his main aim is to regularly start games for Borussia Dortmund, despite his impressive goal-scoring cameos from the benchSince joining from Barcelona last summer, Alcacer has since gone on to score 12 goals in 12 Bundesliga games with seven of those coming from the bench. This impressive run of form saw Dortmund take up their buy-option to sign Alcacer permanently from Barcelona for €25m in November.Since then, however, the Spaniard has only started three of Dortmund’s last eight matches with manager Lucien Favre stating that his lack of playing time at Barcelona for the past two seasons has been the cause behind this. But Alcacer isn’t satisfied with being a super-sub as he always wants to start games.“I want to play. To start games is my objective,” Alcacer told the Bundesliga website.“Even if I’ve scored 10 times as a sub, I don’t want to stay on the bench. I want to start games and help the team with goals, assists and hard work.Jadon SanchoMerson believes Arsenal should sign Sancho Manuel R. Medina – September 14, 2019 Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho might be the perfect player to play for the Gunners, according to former England international Paul Merson. The 25-year-old is tied with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Luka Jovic as the Bundesliga’s top scorer on 12 goals.Although ending his debut campaign as the German league’s highest scorer isn’t something that particularly worries Alcacer.“It’d be nice, of course, but it’s not my objective,” he said.“Scoring goals isn’t everything. We’ll have to see if it’s on the agenda towards the end of the season, but right now it’s all about the team.“I want to work hard and score goals to help the team. And if the team’s in good shape that helps me, too.”Dortmund will be back in action on January 19 away to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.last_img read more
